Recipes Wanted

Hello, all you dear readers!

I'm slowly working on putting together the next JOJ magazine (fourth edition), and thought for this issue we'd like some recipes!

And, of course, your help is needed...do you have any fairly simple and easy recipes to share with us today? If you prefer, you can comment, or feel free to contact us. And please, either way you send it to us, include a little "about me" at the end. It doesn't have to be fancy, but it's nice to know the people behind the recipes--not just the recipes themselves! It helps build sisterhood.

Here's a recipe for you to try today:

Oh, yum, yum! I'll have to make those again!

Looking forward to your submissions!

For now,
Your loving sister,
Esther

  1. Here is a simple recipe for popcorn balls my whole family loves. It's not exactly a healthy recipe, but is for a time you want something sweet, filling, and popcorny:)
    POPCORN BALLS
Have ready 1 1/2 gallons or 24 cups of popped popcorn in a big dish pan or bowl. Set aside.
Into a saucepan put these ingrediants:
    2 cups brown sugar
    1/2 cup light corn syrup
    1/4 tsp. cream of tarter
    1'4 cup water
    2 1/2 TB margarine
Put the saucepan on the stove and turn the heat on high. Stir well. When it starts to boil turn the heat down to medium and time it for five minutes. Take the saucepan off the burner right away after that.
Now stir in 1/4 tsp baking soda.
Pour hot mixture over the 24 cups of popped popcorn and stir with a big spoon very well. Then put a little margarine on your hands and form the popcorn into balls.
Makes 18-20 good sized balls. Store wrapped in clear plastic wrap. They are the best very fresh. This is a nice family winter evening project or after school snack. Enjoy! (PS. Use popcorn that has none or very few unpopped kernals. That kind of ruins the balls.)
