We can be the Sons and Daughters of GOD!

Source

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.  Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

~1 John 3:1-2~

Isn't it incredible?! God made it possible for US, guilty, wretched, and sinful people to be his SONS and DAUGHTERS! That just thrills my heart, when I think of such love toward me.

"Amazing love, how can it be? That THOU my GOD shouldst die for me!"

A Promise for Friday—Jeremiah 33:3

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

What a promise! Praise the Lord!

Practical Ways Daughters can Serve their Church

How can we as daughters be a blessing to our church family?  I’m sure many of you daughters have asked yourself this question, as I have myself.

The purposes of these ideas I will be sharing with you are to encourage you so you can be a blessing to your church and the families in it.

Source

1. Pray for your pastor, his family, and individual families during the week.

2. Offer to take care of a busy mother’s baby so she can listen to the message.  We have many large families in our fellowship, so there are always quite a few babies around.

3. Give notes of encouragement to your friends.  There have been times when I had been feeling discouraged, and a friend gives me a sweet card with an encouraging note or a scripture on it.  It is SUCH a blessing and an encouragement!

4. Talk to the younger children.  Make them your “little friends”.  I have several “little friends”, which is really sweet.  Sometimes they’ll come up and share their latest bit of “news” with me. J

5. Help a church lady at her home, with your parents’ permission. It’s a great blessing to her and frees her to do other things, especially if she has little children.

6.  When a family has been extremely busy, or has had a new baby, maybe you could make them a meal!  I know that when my mother had my youngest brother (and I was in charge!), several families offered to bring us supper! It was so nice and such a blessing to be able to know that supper was already taken care of for that night!

7.  If your church has fellowship meals, offer to help a family with small children through the food line. If they accept your offer, you might want to ask the parents what the child you are helping is allowed to eat, anything they are allergic to, etc.

I hope that these ideas have encouraged you to be a blessing to your church body! These are just a few ideas.  There are many more ways we as daughters can be a blessing to our church families!

Keep pressing towards the goal!

In Christ Alone,
~Rachel~

A Fountain of Life (and July’s Wallpaper!)

Recently, I’ve been kind-of curious about the fountain of life, and come to find out it’s mentioned in several places in the Bible!

I don’t know how many of you have read or listened to part two of Pilgrim’s Progress, by John Bunyan. I’ve listened to it many, many times, and when I think of fountains of life, I think of how Mr. Valiant-for-truth was summoned to the palace. The token he was given was, “That his pitcher was broken at the fountain.” (Ecclesiastes 12:6).

Aside from that, there are several other mentions of fountains (and, more specifically, the fountain of life) in the Bible.
  • Psalm 36:9, “For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
  • Jeremiah 2:13, “For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
  • Joel 3:18, “And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth out of the house of the Lord, and shall water the valley of Shittim.
  • Zechariah 13:1, “In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.
  • Revelation 7:17, “For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
  • John 4:14, “But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
There are many, many more I could do, but those are a few of my favourites. I especially like Psalm 36:9 (the first one on my list). “In THY light shall we see light.” WOW! If you turned that to the opposite, it would say, “In Satan’s darkness we will only see darkness.” Oh, isn’t God good!

Jesus’ promise in John 4:14 is also profound. “But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.

O Rejoice in the Lord!!

Source
God never moves without purpose or plan
When trying His servant and molding a man.
Give thanks to the LORD though your testing seems long;
In darkness He giveth a song.

I could not see through the shadows ahead;
So I looked at the cross of my Savior instead.
I bowed to the will of the Master that day;
Then peace came and tears fled away.

Now I can see testing comes from above;
God strengthens His children and purges in love.
My Father knows best, and I trust in His care;
Through purging more fruit I will bear.

O Rejoice in the LORD
He makes no mistake,
He knoweth the end of each path that I take,
For when I am tried
And purified,

I shall come forth as gold.
